If you're looking to compare our fixed rates to an hourly man and van service, the price can typically range from £30-£50 an hour for a one-person moving team, or £90-£150 an hour for a two-person team. But don't forget that your price doesn't depend on how long it takes. We give you an instant, fixed price based on your inventory and the destination of your belongings. 

Your quote includes the van itself, a professional vetted driver chosen by us, plus a second pair of hands if your move calls for it. The cost covers all necessary fuel, mileage, and driver insurance, plus the materials and time needed to load, unload, and get the job done. No matter what, we’ll also include £10k fire and theft cover on every man and van booking for peace of mind 

Booking your man and van service in advance means you’re more likely to get a better price, as well as a choice of dates and time slots. But we know things come up at the last minute and plans change! At First Choice, we’re available 7 days a week, including bank holidays. This even includes same-day and same-week services if that’s what you need. 

It’s worth being aware that demand does go up in the spring and summer months as lots of people move home at this time of year. We always recommend booking as far ahead as possible at this time, especially if you’re moving a large amount. Remember, you can change your booking up to 48 hours before the move.

Yes! Our helpful mover will assist you in unloading and loading your items as part of our man and van service. But they won’t pack your items. If you’re moving a large number of items, you may need a removals company, 

The main differences between a man with a van company and a removals company are the size of the move they carry out and the cost. Both services will include the vehicle hire, loading and unloading, but removal companies usually also offer packing or furniture dismantling/reassembly.

Chances are you’ll need a removal company if you’re moving a fully furnished house, as there’ll be a fair few items to move. If you’re moving a couple of things, a man with a van is probably a better option. Did you know we also offer specialist services for high-value items, such as pianos and antiques?

Unfortunately, customers cannot travel with our man-and-van service. This is for safety and legal reasons. If you’d like to be there for the pickup and drop-off, you’ll need to arrange your own travel. 

The cost of a man and a van includes petrol and VAT. Just make sure you have included everything in your inventory, have everything ready on time for collection and let us know if the team needs to navigate any stairs or lifts.
